thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, Germany’s sole manufacturer of tinplate, is consistently driving innovation and digitalization in its warehouse operations. Together with IdentPro and sensor specialist SICK, the company has successfully implemented a fully automated warehouse management solution using highly precise 2D LiDAR sensor technology and intelligent software. This innovative approach optimizes and digitalizes complex intralogistics processes, significantly enhancing efficiency and transparency.
Previously, manual scanning processes presented significant potential for errors and efficiency losses for thyssenkrupp Rasselstein. The combination of IdentPro’s Warehouse Execution System (WES) and advanced 2D LiDAR technology from SICK sustainably addresses these challenges. The forklift fleet was equipped with IoT kits, including the high-performance picoScan150 and LRS4000 sensors from SICK, capturing all load movements and positions in real-time.
IdentPro uses this data to create a digital twin of the entire warehouse operation, accurately mapping all processes down to the second and centimeter. Integration of the WES into existing warehouse management systems is straightforward through standard interfaces, requiring no structural changes to the warehouse facility.
This successful partnership between IdentPro, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, and SICK clearly illustrates the significant potential digital and automated solutions hold for companies in the steel industry seeking to optimize their intralogistics processes.
